Union Minister for Rural Development, Shri Gopinath Pandurang Munde, passed away today (3rd, June 2014, Tuesday) morning, at around 7:20am. He was on his way to the Delhi airport, when his car was hit by anpther car, a Indica as per news reports which jumped a red signal and hit Mr. Munde's car on the back door, at around 6:20 am.
He was taken to the AIMS by his assistant and driver who were in the same car and did not suffer any injuries. On being brought to the hospital it was observed that there was no cardiac response, the doctors tried to revive him but to no avail. The doctors based on preliminary observations believe that he suffered a cardiac arrest, may be due to the shock of the accident.
The news has been around that Mr. Munde would have been projected as BJP's Chief Ministerial candidate in the Maharashtra assembly elections.
